What is the shift bubbling up in the labor market that you can leverage to decide your future?

In an era when multiple factors are changing the rules of the game, we need a deep understanding of the catalysts, and also the right tools to adapt to the environment ahead of us from here on out.

The most relevant factors driving the change can be summed up in 5 areas: technology, economy, politics, social change, and the environment. However, framing it this way would be overly reductive and would prevent us from seeing the big picture and understanding the connections and causalities that weave today's environment together.

The technological factor, which we already know firsthand, corresponds to the rise of generative AI and its implications for the automation of tasks, data analysis, statistics, and, more recently, design. This factor has several implications. On the one hand, the most obvious one, the replacement of automatable jobs, although, on the other, it requires maintenance by people qualified to do so. Likewise, as the latest trends show, it has far greater potential when used as augmented intelligence, working hand in hand with people, which requires that they have the skills to manage and use AI efficiently. As well as people working in cybersecurity or who can take on the oversight of the models. All of this, without losing sight of our need to reclaim our value in the market through what makes us irreplaceable (for now).

Likewise, all this technology requires an enormous amount of energy, in an environment already at the limit of its environmental resources, which adds particular pressure on energy efficiency and clean energy models. Add to this global warming and the rise in natural disasters, which highlight the social and economic need to invest in this direction.

Alongside this factor, another important need arises: the care and human attention for a population that requires more assistance every day, not only because of an aging population, but also because of the loneliness brought on by the fast, digital way of life we live in.

All these changes appear within a global economy whose growth has been slowing, in which the cost of living has increased substantially for citizens, the population of high-income countries is aging while the young population of low-income countries is growing without job opportunities, and political tensions push the players (countries/regions) to integrate the value chain regionally, seeking to maintain autonomy from other players in the global environment, increasing distrust, protectionism, and the race for scarce global talent, in a highly interconnected world.
